How cute are these ‘Sunflower Turtles’?… A perfect summer time Amigurimi project!. I can’t wait to make a bunch of them!.
You can as well make them in a regular size4 acrylic yarn. Make sure to use 3.5mm crochet hook while you are using a size4 acrylic yarn!
Materials Used:
Yarn: Premier Yarn Parfait Chunky
Colors: Mustard, Yellow, Chocolate, Emerald
5mm Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle
Safety Eyes
Polyfil
Stitch Markers
Scissors
You can work the same pattern in regular size 4 acrylic yarn as well!.
If you are using regular size4 acrylic yarn use 3.5mm crochet hook!
Crochet Terms(US Terminology):
mr: Magic Ring
st(s): Stitch(es)
ch: Chain
sc: Single Crochet
sc2together: Single Crochet Two Together
slst: Slip Stitch
blo: Back Loop
flo: Front Loop
Crochet Pattern:
Head:
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc each in 2sts, 2sc on the next st around(24sts)
Round5-7: 1sc on each st around(24sts)
Round8: 1sc each in 2sts and sc2together in next 2sts around(18sts)
Round9: 1sc each in 1sts and sc2together in next 2sts around(12sts)
Stuff the head with polyfil and attach safety eyes.
Round10: sc2together in every 2sts around(6sts)
Round11: Slst on every 2sts to close the openings you may have
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing!
Body:
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc each in 2sts, 2sc on the next st around(24sts)
Round5: 1sc each in 3sts, 2sc on the next st around(30sts)
Round6-7: 1sc on each st around(30sts)
Round8: 1sc on blo of each st around (30sts)
Round9: 1sc each in 3sts and sc2together in next 2sts around(24sts)
Round10: 1sc each in 2sts and sc2together in next 2sts around(18sts)
Round11: 1sc each in 1sts and sc2together in next 2sts around(12sts)
Stuff the body with polyfil
Round12: sc2together in every 2sts around(6sts)
Round13: Slst on every 2sts to close the openings you may have
Petals:
Worked in the flo sts on Round7 of the body
Join the yellow yarn in any st, *[Slst in next 2sts, (Slst on the next st, ch2, dc on the same st where Slst is worked, ch2 picot, (dc,ch2,slst) on the next st ]*. Repeat *to* 7 more times(8 petals), Slst on next 2 sts fasten off.
Front Flippers:(Make2)
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc each in 2sts, 2sc on the next st around(24sts)
Round5: 1sc on each st around(24sts)
Fold half and work slst. Leave a long tail for
sewing
Back Flippers:(Make2)
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc on each st around(18sts)
Fold half and work slst. Leave a long tail for
sewing
Assembly:
Sew the Head to the Body. Then Sew the Front Flipper, Back Flippers and Tail. Tuck in all the odd ends of yarn into the amigurumi using a blunt tip of metal crochet hook
