I am back again with yet another cute amigurumi pattern, this time a Watermelon Sea Turtle. You can make this amigurumi even with acrylic yarn!.
Materials Used:
Yarn: Bernat Baby Velvet
Colors: Potpourri, Bleached Aqua, White
Yarn: I love this yarn
Color: Black
4mm Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle
Safety Eyes
Polyfil
Stitch Markers
You can work the same pattern in regular size 4 acrylic yarn as well!.
If you are using regular size4 acrylic yarn use 3.5mm crochet hook!
Crochet Terms(US Terminology):
mr: Magic Ring
st(s): Stitch(es)
ch: Chain
sc: Single Crochet
sc2together: Single Crochet Two Together
slst: Slip Stitch
blo: Back Loop
flo: Front Loop
Crochet Pattern:
Head:
With Color Potpurri:
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc each in 2sts, 2sc on the next st around(24sts)
Round5-7: 1sc on each st around(24sts)
Round8: 1sc each in 2sts and sc2together in next 2sts around(18sts)
Round9: 1sc each in 1sts and sc2together in next 2sts around(12sts)
Stuff the head with polyfil and attach safety eyes.
Round10: sc2together in every 2sts around(6sts)
Stuff the head with Polyfil and attach safety eyes!
Round11-12: 1sc on each st around(6sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing!
Shell:
With Color Potpurri:
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc each in 2sts, 2sc on the next st around(24sts)
Round5: 1sc each in 3sts, 2sc on the next st around(30sts)
Round6-7: 1sc on each st around(30sts)
Body:
With Color Bleached Aqua:
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc each in 2sts, 2sc on the next st around(24sts)
Round5: 1sc each in 3sts, 2sc on the next st around(30sts)
Round6: 1sc on each st around(30sts)
Slst by holding the shell and body with their wrong side facing inside, work slst with white yarn on the corresponding stitches of shell and body on the flo. Stuff with polyfil when you have few sts left.
Front Flippers:(Make2)
With Color Bleached Aqua:
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc each in 2sts, 2sc on the next st around(24sts)
Round5: 1sc on each st around(24sts)
Fold half and work slst. Leave a long tail for
sewing
Back Flippers:(Make2)
With Color Bleached Aqua:
Round1: Magic Ring 6sc around the magic ring(6sts)
Round2: 2sc on each st around(12sts)
Round3: 1sc in one st and 2sc on the next st around(18sts)
Round4: 1sc on each st around(18sts)
Fold half and work slst. Leave a long tail for
sewing
Tail:
With Color Bleached Aqua:
Round1: Magic Ring 4sc around the magic ring(4sts)
Round2-3: 1sc on each st around(4sts). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing!
Assembly:
Sew the Head to the Body. Then Sew the Front Flipper, Back Flippers and Tail. Tuck in all the odd ends of yarn into the amigurumi using a blunt tip of metal crochet hook
Now with the regular black acrylic yarn add details by sewing in the watermelon seed details.
