Crochet Daisy Granny Square

My love for granny squares never ends!. I wanted to make a spring poncho or cardigan for my younger daughter. That’s when I came across this daisy granny pattern which is so simple and when you choose the right color combo to work this granny square really looks so beautiful.

Here are the supplies I used to make this granny square

Materials Used:

Yarn: Baby Rainbow Yarn

Brand: Loops and Thread

Color: Creme, Light Yellow, Bright Pink, Limelight

Scissors

We will be using a stitch called popcorn stitch which is a 3D crochet stitch. We can work this stitch using 3,4 or 5 dc. For this project I will be using 3dc popcorn stitch. Now let’s see how we will be working this popcorn stitch.

3dc Popcorn: work 3dc on a stitch and take of the hook from your last stitch and insert your hook on the first dc and pull the loop of your last dc onto the 1st dc.

Abbreviations (US Terms):

mr: Magic Ring

ch: Chain

st(s): Stich(es)

dc: Double Crochet

Now let’s see how we are going to work this beautiful daisy granny square

Round1: Start with Yellow Yarn. Magic Ring , ch3, 11dc around the magic ring. Slst on top of starting ch3.(12dc sts)

Round2: Start with Pink Yarn. ch2,2dc popcorn, on the 1st dc of previous row and ch1, *1popcorn , ch1 on the next st*. Repeat *to* around. Slst on top of starting popcorn st.(12 popcorn st with in between ch1 spaces)

Round3: Start with green yarn. Slst to next ch1 space. Ch3,2dc,ch3,3dc on the ch1space of previous row, ch1. *3dc,ch1 each ch1 space for next 2 ch1 space, (3dc,ch3,3dc), ch1 on the next ch1 space*. Repeat *to* around. 3dc, ch1  each ch1 space for next 2 ch1 space. Slst on top of starting ch3. Slst on to next 2sts.

Round4: Start with cream yarn. Ch3,2dc,ch3,3dc on the ch3 space of previous row,ch1,*3dc,ch1 on each ch1 space of previous row for next 3 ch1 space, (3dc,ch3,3dc), ch1 on the next ch3 space*. Repeat *to* around. 3dc,ch1 on each ch1 space of previous row for next 3 ch1 space. Slst on top of starting ch3.
