Little Hearts Fingerless Mittens – Kids Size(4-8years)

Little Hearts Fingerless Gloves

This Pattern is for Child Size from ages 4-8. If you want to work the same gloves for big kids ages (9-12) you can find the written pattern for the same at the end of this post!

Materials:

You can use any size 4 yarn for this project. 

Yarn: I love this yarn(Hobby Lobby)

Color: Gray Mist, Hot Rose, Soft Pink, White

4.5 mm Crochet Hook

Scissors

Crochet Terms (US Terminology):

ch: Chain

slst: Slip Stitch 

sc: Single Crochet 

hdc: Half Double Crochet 

dc: Double Crochet 

dctogether: Double Crochet Together

dc2together: Double Crochet Two Together

st(s): Stich(es)

sk: Skip

sp: Space 

Gauge:

Using Size 4 Yarn and 4.5mm Crochet Hook work, 

Row1: ch13, 1hdc on the 4th ch from the and 1hdc on each ch till the end. 

Row2: ch2 turn(considered as 1st hdc), 1hdc on each   till the end (11hdc sts)

Row3-7: Repeat Row2. Fasten off

It should measure 2.75” (inches) length and 2.6” (inches) height

Child Size Small(Age4-8):

Crochet Pattern:

Working on the Cuff:

Start with Color1 (Gray Mist):

Row1: ch10, 1sc on the 2nd ch from the hook, 1sc on each ch till the end (9sts)

Row2: ch1, turn. 1sc on blo of each st till the end.(9sts)

Row3-Row20: Repeat Row2.(9sts)

Hold both ends together and ch1, Slst on the blo of st of Row20 and corresponding st of Row1, till the end.

Remove your hook and turn your work inside out.

We Work on a stitch called Cluster Stitch for this pattern.

Cluster Stitch:

dc2together, ch1, dc2together

Body of Mittens:

With the same Color1 (Gray Mist):

Round1: ch1(does not count as a stitch) work 20hdc evenly spaced on the ribs of the cuff. Slst on top of starting hdc(20hdc sts)

Round2:ch2,dctogether,ch1,dc2together(considered as 1st cluster st), Skip 1st, *cluster stitch on the next st, Skip 1 st*. Repeat *to* around. Slst on top of starting ch2, dctogether (10 cluster stitch)

With Color2(Hot Rose):

Round3: slst to the next ch1 sp. ch2,dctogether,ch1,dc2together(considered as 1st cluster st) on the ch1 sp of the cluster st of the previous round. 1cluster st on every ch1 sp of the cluster st of the previous round. Slst on top of starting ch2, dctogether (10 cluster stitch)

Round4: Repeat Round3

With Color3: (Soft Pink)

Round5: slst to the next ch1 sp. ch2,dctogether,ch1,dc2together(considered as 1st cluster st), skip 2 cluster st of the previous round. Work 1cluster st on every ch1 sp of the cluster st of the previous round. Slst on top of starting ch2, dctogether (8 cluster stitch)

The skipped 2 cluster stitches will be the thumb hole for our fingerless gloves.

Round6: slst to the next ch1 sp. ch2,dctogether,ch1,dc2together(considered as 1st cluster st) on the ch1 sp of the cluster st of the previous round. 1cluster st on every ch1 sp of the cluster st of the previous round. Slst on top of starting ch2, dctogether (8 cluster stitch)

With Color4:(White)

Round7: Repeat Round6(8 cluster stitch). Fasten off and weave the ends.

Child Size Large(Age8-12):

Working on the Cuff:

Start with Color1 (Gray Mist):

Round4: Repeat Round3

With Color3: (Soft Pink)
